Xochil Sousa Joins Board of Peninsula Family YMCA

October 01, 2019

The Peninsula Family YMCA has been proudly serving San Diego’s Point Loma community since 1970. Dedicated to empowering people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, the Y believes a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. It is this dedication to community that inspired Xochil Sousa to join their Board of Directors.

“My family has been active with the YMCA for almost ten years. My daughter learned to swim in their pool, plays soccer in their youth league, and has attended Raintree Camp. Even though my family can afford these services, many families in our community cannot. I’m proud to join the board of an organization that makes it possible for children from less fortunate circumstances to enjoy these same experiences.”

The Peninsula Family YMCA is planning to add a new building next year, and Xochil is looking forward to helping the organization in their expansion plans. She’s particularly interested in new activities for tweens that provide a safe and fun environment. Located next door to Correia Junior High School, the Peninsla Family YMCA has a long-standing relationship that will continue to grow with the new space.
